Planning

My address says Perimeter, Dunwoody or Powers Ferry. Which location should I give?

Give the complete street address and municipality, followed by the property name if helpful. Perimeter Center extends beyond Sandy Springs, and places described as Powers Ferry can be on different sides of the Chattahoochee. A familiar district label cannot establish the service location on its own. If your map pin leads to a shared driveway, add the entrance actually used by your building. Availability is checked for that specific address.

The lock works sometimes. What should I describe before requesting a visit?

Describe the pattern: whether the key turns with the door open, whether closing requires a push or lift, and whether another key behaves differently. Mention any recent door, hinge or weather-stripping work. You do not need to diagnose the failed part or take the lock apart. These observations help distinguish a cylinder problem from a door-and-frame issue and help make the proposed assessment more useful.

How do I compare quotes for several doors without comparing different jobs?

List the keyed cylinders on each opening, not just the number of doors. A front entrance with a keyed handle and deadbolt may involve two cylinders. Ask each quote to identify the intended work, included keys, labor, hardware and any additional visit. Note whether adjustment or preparation is included. If inspection changes the recommendation, have the revised scope and amount explained before approving the change.

What if my identification is inside the home or car I cannot enter?

Explain that during the first call and ask what alternative ownership or authorization evidence will be accepted. For a rented home, managed apartment or borrowed vehicle, the authorized owner or property contact may need to be involved. Knowing an address or standing beside a vehicle does not by itself establish permission. Sorting out the documentation before a visit avoids an appointment that cannot proceed.

Can I drive to a listed landmark, or arrange an immediate visit there?

The area guides use places such as City Springs and Morgan Falls to describe locations; they are not LockReach storefront addresses or staffed meeting points. Call with the actual place where work is needed, and confirm the available arrangement and timing. No walk-in location, around-the-clock schedule or fixed arrival time is published here. Do not make a trip to a landmark expecting a service desk.

Homes

Can I keep an older decorative handleset and still change who has a key?

Possibly. A compatible, serviceable cylinder may be rekeyed while the visible handleset stays in place. If parts are worn or damaged, retaining every component may not be practical. Share photographs of both faces and the door edge, and explain which trim you want to preserve. A replacement with a smaller footprint can expose old holes or finish marks, so appearance and function should be considered together before selecting hardware.

We are moving into a managed home near City Springs. What belongs on the access handover?

Separate the unit door from building access. Inventory the physical keys, keypad users, garage devices and any connected lock account, then identify which items the household controls and which management administers. Ask about approval and any existing key plan before changing the unit hardware. Rekeying a cylinder changes its physical key operation; it does not remove former occupants from an app or cancel their building credentials.

Our garage entry is the door we use most. Should a keypad go there or at the front?

Start with the route your household actually uses and who needs entry. A keypad on the garage-to-home door might suit that routine, but its fit and the door’s existing requirements still need checking. Compare the preparation, thickness, clearances and product instructions before buying. Decide whether a simple local code is enough or whether connected features are useful. Keep a workable backup access plan for the exact model you choose.

My deadbolt needs a hard push on the door. Would a smart lock make that easier?

A motor does not resolve resistance between the bolt and frame. The existing opening should be assessed before powered hardware is added; alignment, the strike or another door component may need attention. Describe whether the bolt moves normally with the door open. Once the door works properly, check the proposed model’s dimensions and requirements. Otherwise, a new device may inherit the same mechanical difficulty as the old lock.

A contractor no longer needs entry. Is changing the keypad code enough?

Review every access method that person had. A code change will not revoke a physical key, and removing one code may leave a separate app invitation or administrator account active. Use the specific manufacturer’s process to review users and ownership. If a metal key was shared, discuss whether the compatible cylinder should be rekeyed. Keep permanent entry codes and account passwords private when making a general service inquiry.

Workplaces

Who approves a lock change in a Perimeter Center office suite?

Start with the lease or property manager to establish who controls the suite cylinder and whether it belongs to a managed key system. Identify the person authorized to approve the work and meet the appointment. Changing a tenant’s door does not authorize changes to the lobby, elevators or shared entrances. Provide the building, floor, suite and visitor check-in instructions so the agreed scope reaches the correct opening.

Can someone from an individual office arrange work on a Medical Center building entrance?

A shared or controlled building entrance should be referred to the responsible facilities or property team. An individual office’s authority over its suite does not necessarily extend to common doors or centrally managed equipment. Have the authorized representative define the opening, permitted work and access process. LockReach does not claim affiliation with medical facilities, and a general locksmith inquiry should not be treated as approval to work on their systems.

A former employee had one key. How do we decide what needs rekeying?

Identify every opening that key operates, including stockrooms or staff doors that are easy to overlook. Check whether it is part of a master-key arrangement before changing individual cylinders. The rekeying scope should follow the access exposed by the missing or unreturned key. Review badges, alarm permissions and digital codes separately, then record who receives the new physical keys. Those systems are not all revoked by a cylinder change.

Our Roswell Road storefront locks, but the door does not catch reliably. What should we request?

Describe the failure as a door-closing problem as well as a lock concern. Explain whether the latch misses, the door needs lifting or the handle behaves differently at closing time. Include the entrance type and who can approve repairs. A new cylinder alone may leave the cause unresolved. Ask whether the assessment includes the door, strike and relevant hardware, and explain whether the premises can currently be secured.

Vehicles

My car is in a deck near City Springs or Medical Center. Which directions are useful?

Use the garage’s own name and signs: entrance street, level, section marker and vehicle description. A campus or development may have several decks with different access points. Check whether an attendant, visitor registration or height restriction affects entry by a service vehicle. Keep a callback number available if you wait elsewhere. Add the car’s make, model and year so locating it and confirming suitable service happen together.

I may have lost my key near Morgan Falls or Powers Island. Is an unlock enough?

Only if recovering access also recovers the usable key. If the key may be lost on a trail or near the water, opening the car does not create a replacement. Say whether any working spare exists and identify the exact parking area and approach road. Powers Island and destinations across the river are different locations. Discuss vehicle opening and any possible key work as separate tasks with separate compatibility checks.

The fob is present, but the car will not start. Should I order a replacement key?

Describe what the car does before ordering parts. Give its make, model and year, whether it has push-button start, and whether another working key produces the same result. A starting problem can have causes outside locksmith scope, so replacing a fob on appearance alone may not help. Ask what assessment is available for that vehicle and which functions any proposed replacement is expected to restore.
